I was recently watching a video interview from Raoul Pal and Real Vision. If you haven’t already I suggest you check out their work. Raoul is a macro expert who has coined the term the Exponential Age. He is referring to the exponential growth and adoption of technology we are experiencing. What I want to mention though, is something he said about the current crypto cycle. “It will be everything, everywhere, all at once.” I think thats a pretty good statement considering where we are in the market today.
You have probably heard of Defi (decentralized finance) and NFTs, but now we have the emergence of DeSci (decentralized science) and Depin (decentralized physical infrastructure networks). Today, we are going to focus on DeSci and its potential implications.
The global pandemic was a wakeup call for science and more importantly the field of medical research as a whole. A major conflict of interest emerged as the research for the cure was mostly undertaken by a small select group, funded by government or nonprofit organizations. This led to self-interest and politics taking priority over the collective well-being, as lives were at stake. Scientists in universities and other organizations found themselves hindered by limited access to funding, constraining their ability to contribute meaningfully. The consequence? A desperate need for a more effective, transparent, and accessible system.
Decentralized Science (DeSci) is an aspect of the DeFi space that is creating public infrastructure for science through blockchain technology. Desci has the potential to democratize information, access, and knowledge sharing, unlock new funding mechanisms, and wider collaboration and cooperation in the field of science.
But don’t just take it from me. Recently, we have had two of the biggest names in the crypto space publicly say they are going to fund this sector of crypto. I’m talking about Brian Armstrong, the CEO of Coinbase, and CZ the recently ousted head of Binance.
These two players are not only some of the most capitalized people in the world, they have been early to nearly every stage of crypto’s development and now they are turning their focus to research. If they believe something is going to be big we might want to pay attention. We recently added GENE to our 100x innovators watchlist, (+269% from our write up) and now we adding a DeSci project to our Market Dominator Watchlist.
